Six international doctoral programs, representing more than 100 doctoral students from more than 20 countries, work together at the University of Paderborn in the Paderborn Institute for Advanced Studies in Computer Science and Engineering (PACE). The success of this partnership was demonstrated at the PACE Ceremony on September 9, 2014 in the context of the “it’s OWL Summerschool”. The Zonta Club award of 1000 Euro was handed over during the PACE ceremony for the fifth year in a row. On this occasion, Zonta President Bärbel Meerkötter stressed the fact that Zonta, as an association of professional women, created the award with the aim of supporting young women in their choice for a technical or natural sciences-oriented course of studies.

In his speech honoring Olga Kasdorf, Prof. Dr. Heinz Kitzerow stressed her excellent skills in physics and chemistry, her organizational talent as well as her tireless dedication to the success of her fellow students and the Graduate School “Micro- and Nanostructures in Optoelectronics and Photonics”.

Dr. Olga Kasdorf dedicated part of her price to the Kindergarten “MS-Kunigunde” of the University of Paderborn. Because the staff not only took excellent care of her daughter, but also taught her one-year old son to ensure waste separation. She also thanked all professors and colleagues for their excellent support during her studies.

At the end of the ceremony, all guests were invited to a little get-together with snacks and refreshments.
